WWII ERA ITALIAN MODEL 1923 AIR FORCE OFFICER'S SWORD, L 32" (BLADE)
Model 1923 Italian Air Force officer's sword having a crowned eagle pommel with red glass eyes. Brass wire-wrapped wood handle with a wing-shaped handguard. Propeller shaped locking mechanism at the base of the hilt. The blade is engraved with military regalia and a crowned eagle. Ricasso is stamped "2". The stitched black leather scabbard features gilt brass mountings with a crowned eagle, floral, and aviation decorations.
Surface scratching to the inside of the handguard. Some areas of pitting to the blade, some of the engraving has worn. The blade edge has some rough edges with a small dent to the edge near the tip. Black leather scabbard exhibits cracking and surface loss. Throat and tip are loose from the scabbard and need to be refastened. Wear to the patina at the throat of the scabbard. Possible repair at the upper mounting ring.
