GUSTAVE DE BRUYN (BELGIAN/FRENCH 1836-1916) FIVES LILLE POTTERY FLOWER VASES, PAIR H 17", DIA 10"

Art Nouveau style. Copper over porcelain. Having cobalt blue enamel liner. Decorated in a bas relief motif of ribbons, thistle and maple leaves. Baluster form. Impressed maker's mark of Gustave DeBruyn's Fives Lille Pottery on the underside: "D B" #4429". Whilst there is no reliable way to determine the precise age of the pair by the model number, stylistically, the pair appear to be late 19th/early 20th c.. Provenance: Property of a prominent Bloomfield Hills, MI and Palm Beach, FL estate.

Most unusual and beautifully made urns. Motif in bas relief. Good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or damage. jw
