AUGUSTE RODIN (FRENCH, 1840-1917), BRONZE SCULPTURE, LE DÉSESPÉRÉ: C.1900-1930 H 7.5", W 12" L 16"

Signed "A. Rodin". Inscribed "Alexis Rudier Fondeur Paris" on verso at base. A marble sculpture of the same title and identical subject is part of the collection of the St. Louis Art Museum. Provenance: The collection of Bob Schweizer, Ann Arbor, MI. Mr. Schweizer was the fourth-generation owner of Detroit's Schweizer's Restaurant (1862-1991). Schweizer's was known for its collection of 19th c. European paintings and sculpture.


Condition:
Good bronze with strong signature and foundry mark. Patina consistent with a casting c. 1900-30.
